Inspiration
Hiking is a beloved activity in BC, and we aim to make it even more enjoyable to encourage more people to hit the trails!
What it does
Our app introduces hikers to the plants and animals they encounter along the trail. It also features a points system to motivate people to hike more and explore nature.
How we built it
We developed the app using React and Next.js framework.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating the Leaflet API and obtaining the current location were significant challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully implemented functions to retrieve the current location.
What we learned
We gained valuable experience with the React framework, Next.js, and CSS.
What's next for Meander
We plan to add the SFU trail and incorporate a database to record the plants, berries, and animals found along the way. Users will earn points for identifying these plants and animals, as well as for completing hikes.
